Batchin' and Relaxin'
Flying solo tonight. Katie's in Ashland at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival with school (as Brent would say: "I'm at work right now!"). Meanwhile, I'm doing nothing for the first night in over a month and planning on getting more than six hours of sleep.
I decided to rent the first season of 30 Rock. I've seen half of an episode here and there, but never watched any of it with any sort of continuity. I've had a developing man-crush on Alec Baldwin ever since he did the voiceover-intro for the Royal Tenenbaums. After watching just three or four episodes, I think I'd have to propose if I ever met him face to face. I knew he had the coolest voice ever (I imagine that's what Moses sounded like), but I never thought he had the laugh-out-loud factor. I think he and Tina Fey are the only combo that can make a wife-less night half enjoyable.

These guys were missing to make the weekend complete!

One of my favorite people was in town this past weekend= Liz! She was given a raise at work, and this raise involved being flown up to P-town for a weekend! It was really great seeing her. On weekends like this, I am reminded how much I miss seeing my immediate family together. All we needed were a few more Stevensons and Eatons to make the weekend perfect.
Growing up there were always people in the house. I guess I somewhat "led the way" in this respect. My mom had a policy that anyone-anytime could spend the night. I don't ever remember her saying no. Her reason was simple= "I would rather have all the kids at our house where i know it's safe and loving, than making dumb rules about who and when people could come over." And so it was always full. I remember there were hundreds of nights when all 5 of us had a friend stay the night. 10 kids in the house at once.
This is why, when we are almost all there- save 1 or 2, I am reminded of the chaos and fun we all bring. Mere had some friends over last night as well, and around a huge pot of chili (thanks to mom), there were about 11 people who were laughing and playing games for several hours.
So for all these memories of late night parties and full houses, thanks parents. I really respect the way you chose to have the house open ALL the time for us.

widgets and lou diamond phillips

Like peas and carrots, right? A couple weeks into the MBA program and I'm finding it hard to undwind after a full day of work and then four more hours of either accounting or managerial economics. I love and hate both equally, in case you were wondering.
So I'm winding down at home around ten...all alone. Katie took about twenty drama students to a showing of Camelot starring, yep, Lou Diamond Phillips. For their sake, I'm hoping he works in a spirited rendition of "La Bamba." Boy, that would be something!

Margaret Thornton
Otherwise known as "Marney" to the Stevenson-Stanley-Borsack clan, passed away Sunday. Marney is my adopted grandmother, who once met my Nana- befriended her many many years ago, used to babysit my mom and uncles, and eventually babysat the 5 of us. She was "the" grandma- at every event, holiday, and party the above mentioned clan threw. She has gone to be with Jesus, that we are sure of. So with words that will never express our love for you Marney, We love and miss you.
